After many months of deep tissue sports massage my sciatic related glute / top of hamstring and back of knee pain kept returning.  Driving triggered the pain in my left leg and cycling was painful too.   Six shockwave sessions with Jon has made a real difference and now I can drive and cycle pain free.  Highly recommended treatment.

What Is Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a medical procedure that uses shockwaves to stimulate blood flow in a particular area of the body.

It is also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and it is used to treat some types of chronic pain, including plantar fasciitis and tennis elbow.

Shockwaves are generated by an electronic device that sends acoustic waves into the body. The waves are transmitted through a probe, which sits on the skin over the area to be treated.

The sound waves cause microtrauma in the tissues which leads to an inflammatory response that speeds up the healing process. This is why it is most effective in treating chronic injuries or pain which have been around for a long time.

Why are we different and why it will help you?
Whilst Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) can be a very effective treatment method we also have seen it to have its maximum effects when combined with other treatment methods.

As a result, in every treatment session with us the treatment will be administered but we will also compliment with other forms of treatment within the session. The therpay is delievered in one of our high end treatment rooms at our Orpington clinic where we will also use reelvant manual treatments, sports massage techniques and rehabilitation exercises in our gym space.

How many sessions will you need?
Whilst the number of sessions we deliver can vary, and we will allow you complete control of your care, the overall research shows that three sessions are required to demonstrate its maximum effectiveness.

The sessions are optimally delivered one week apart which aloso allows us to develop a suitable and progressive ‘loading program’.

Following three sessions we will review your condition and discuss the optimal next steps with your approval.
